We are scheduling our architectural firm, Lucchesi Engineering, P. C., to visit the lighthouse to take field measurements in order to start preparing construction drawings for the new roof.
We can then invite contractor bids for the new roof and roof structure. The new metal roof will feature solar panels between the standing seams. We are working to complete the new roof as well as other aspects of the restoration in 2011.
We will continue our fundraising efforts during the winter and are planning several events for 2011.

Lantern Tours
Bob Allen is the great-grandson of William Henry Follett, the last Cedar Island Lighthouse Keeper who served with his wife from 1917 to 1934. Bob is our human link to the rich heritage of the Cedar Island Lighthouse. With his extensive understanding of its history, Bob shares his knowledge by giving walking tours to the lighthouse upon request. The tours start at Cedar Point Park and cover two miles of beach and 140 years of history.
